Introduction
If you are looking to calculate your cost per acquisition/CPA from AdWords campaigns, ad groups and keywords within Google Analytics, this guide will show how to set this up within Google Analytics.
CPA refers to the cost to acquire a sales transaction
Setup
- Login to Google Analytics
- Click on Admin then Goals to create a new goal for Sales Closed or Sales Transaction
- Choose ‘Custom’ within ‘Goal set up’
- Insert the name example ‘SalesClosed from Calls’ or ‘Sales Transaction from Calls’
- Choose ‘Event’ as the Goal Type
- Insert ‘crm’ in the Category field as ‘Equal to’
- Insert ‘SalesClosed’ in the Label field as ‘Regular expression’
- Action and Value field are not required to be filled then Click Save
9. Create a calculated metrics as per below screenshots then click save
The formula is ‘Cost’ / SalesClosed goal completions created previously
10. Create custom reports
1. Click on customization
2. Custom reports
3. Add title, Campaign and or Keyword into Dimensions; Cost, Clicks, CPC and Cost per Acquisition custom metrics created previously
